Crafting and DIY projects are a hobby for so many people these days. Thanks to Pinterest and Etsy, the crafters and DIYers are just about taking the world by storm. I must admit, I absolutely love taking part in these creative ventures. In doing so, my goal is always to create something worth keeping and worth while. In other words, I always make sure it is something that will add value to my home, and cost me less than if I were to purchase it pre-made. I want to share 5 fabulous DIY projects that are easy to create and will be sure to enhance your home. I hope you will try a few!
#1 – White-Washed Wood Garland
What You Will Need
- 1 Bag Wood Rounds {Michael’s or Hobby Lobby}
- Power Drill {Local Hardware Store}
- White Paint {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Water
- Paint Brush {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Twine {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
What You Will Do
- Drill a small hole in each wood round
- Paint wood rounds with paint mixture of 1/2 paint and 1/2 water
- Feed twine through wood round, tying a knot around each hole to keep it in place
- hang and admire your new garland!
#2 – Pallet Wall Art
What You Will Need
- Wood Pallet {Ask A Local Commercial or Manufacturing Business}
- Wood Stain {Local Hardware or Paint Store} *I Used Dark Walnut
- Stain Brush Or Rag {Local Hardware or Paint Store}
- Metal Marquee Letter {Marshall’s, Michael’s, Home Goods, Etsy}
- Hammer And A Nail {Local Hardware Store}
What You Will Do
- Stain wood pallet
- Nail into the pallet and hang the marquee letter
#3 – Canvas Ornament
What You Will Need
- Canvas Fabric {Joann’s or Hobby Lobby}
- Fabric Filler {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Needle and Thread {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Twine or Ribbon {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
What You Will Do
- Cut fabric into your shape of choice
- Stitch two shapes together, leaving one side open
- Stuff shape with fabric filler
- Finish sewing the fabric together on all sides
- Sew a loop of twine or ribbon onto the back of the shape
#4 – Felt Pillow Cover
What You Will Need
- Linen Pillow Cover {H&M Online Click Here}
- Pillow Insert {H&M Online Click Here}
- Felt {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Scissors {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Glue Gun {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
What You Will Do
- Cut felt into small leaves
- Glue felt onto pillow cover in the shape of a wreath
- Place pillow insert inside the cover
#5 – Wood Sign
What You Will Need
- 1×8 Piece of Wood Cut To 3 Feet in Length {Local Hardware Store}
- Paint {Local Hardware or Paint Store}
- Stencil {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Paint Brush {Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s}
- Sand Paper {Local Hardware or Paint Store}
What You Will Do
- Paint the board
- Sand the edges
- Stencil or free-hand your favorite saying
