Mirror Mirror

Okay, let’s just start off by saying I’m pretty sure none of us ever hoped and prayed that one day we would have mirror closet doors in our bedroom. You know the ones I’m talking about. Large mirror sliding doors, beautifully surrounded by a shiny brass frame (In case you can’t get a visual of just how dark and dingy it can make a room appear, check out my photo below). However, if you are lucky enough to have them in your home and can’t quite afford to replace them, there is hope… Paint them white! This was an easy fix that drastically updated our bedroom, making those outdated mirror doors tolerable until they can be replaced by a lovely solid slider.

Here are the supplies and steps I took to paint our sliding mirror doors.

Supplies

  1. Masking paper
  2. Painter’s tape
  3. White spray paint (semi-gloss)
  4. Screw driver for removing doors and tracks

*All of these products can be purchased at a local hardware or paint store

Instructions

  1. Remove doors and tracks. This was the hardest part for me. I would recommend that you kindly ask a strong friend to give you a hand! Click Here for more instructions on how to remove the doors.
  2. Tape off the mirrors using masking paper, or newspaper, and painter’s tape.
  3. Spray away!

I just love the way the whole room brightened up, simply by spraying the doors! I painted the doors for three rooms in our home. It was a bit of a chore, but so worth it! Good luck friends!
