Industrial Inspired Curtains

I often think of curtains as the picture frame of a home. Like the details of a painting, the decor of a home should be given a frame to showcase all the beautiful elements, colors, and textures. And while we are in the mood for comparisons, I also compare buying curtains to the purchase of a tedious wardrobe item. In my mind, curtains are to a home as underwear is to a wardrobe. They aren’t always fun to purchase, not to mention the cost is enough to deter just about anyone from making the investment. But, let’s be honest, there’s nothing like a new pair of undies once you convince yourself to cough over the cash. The same can be said for curtains. Well, I have some good news for you. I was able to put up my industrial inspired curtains for a mere $70, and yes, that includes the curtain rod!

My home is decorated in an industrial farmhouse style, which of course means I wanted white canvas curtains and industrial pipe curtain rods. I found the curtain rods at Target, and purchased the curtains from H&M. If you haven’t added H&M onto your “favorite home decor stores” list, you definitely should consider it. They have fabulous trendy items for great prices and a flat shipping rate!

To get the look featured in the image above, here is what you will need:

  2. “Linen-look” Cotton Curtain $17.99 Click Here to Purchase

One more thing: I would be remiss not to mention the importance of hanging your curtains at the appropriate height and width. Always hang your curtains closer to the ceiling to elongate your window or door. Also, expand the width of the curtain about 6-8 inches beyond the edge of the door or window so as not to cut out the light. This will make your room look lofty and luxurious. Click Here for a visual example.

Enjoy framing your beautiful home!
