My Holiday Inspiration + Recent Purchases

I wait for the holiday season all year long, and I’m so excited it’s finally here! November and December are by far my favorite months. Everything from the décor to fashion trends just speak to me! Not to mention all the fun family times and traditions we get to experience this time of year.

I’ve found there are two type of people in this world. Those that decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving and those that decorate after. haha! In my opinion, you should decorate whenever your heart desires! I used to decorate the week of my Thanksgiving break (since I’m a teacher), but I’m starting earlier this year and am so excited about it! It’s so much easier to find in-stock items when you shop ahead, and also I’m just glad I’ll get to enjoy the décor a little longer! 25 days in December just isn’t enough for me. Not to mention, the holidays aren’t TRULY about décor anyways. They’re a time for gratitude, joy, and hope. So whether you decorate before or after Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoy this holiday season as much as I know I will!

Today I wanted to share my holiday inspiration for this year. I’m going to highlight things I’ve purchased, plan to purchase, and things I’m loving.  I’ve found that planning out my purchases using inspiration photos ensures that I’m purchasing pieces that will work together to create a beautiful space. It has also helped me to avoid overspending on items I don’t really need or love! My hope is that this post gives you a bit of inspiration and guidance as you decorate for the holidays this year.

Almost all of my décor has been ordered and I’m decorating this weekend. I’ve planned a holiday photo shoot with my girl Chelsea Frandsend and it’s going down on November 17th. You can expect to see all my décor in action after that!

Pillows and Décor

This year I opted for a blend of red and neutral plaid, buffalo check, and green velvet pillow covers. The colors and patterns will blend together to create a modern yet traditional holiday look! All of the pillows were bought from amazing small business owners that sell on Etsy. Boho Pillow, Hackner Home, and Petaja Fiber Works were all so gracious to collaborate with me this season. Each of these ladies are so talented and provide quality pillow covers at fair and affordable prices.

Tree

After years of purchasing a real Christmas tree each Christmas, I finally bought a faux one! This faux tree will allow me to keep it up longer than the real one, plus I just love the look! The greenery is so realistic looking and it’s fairly affordable. The one I bought is the 6.5 foot, wide, unlit version, but it comes in 7.5’, 9’, 10’, 12’, and 15’ in both slim and wide versions. You can also opt to have it prelit if you don’t want to string your own lights! As for the tree ornaments, I linked all of ours below!

Garland & Greenery

I was waiting for the garland that matches our tree to come back in stock, so in the mean time I found a few other affordable options. I think investing in quality greenery is important because the cheap stuff can look so… cheap! My favorite holiday greenery is definitely cedar. I love the way it hangs and creates a very natural look.

Tablescape

Hello Fashion Blog teamed up with Studio McGee to create this beautiful tablescape. It’s my inspiration for this year because I have a similar table and rug! I’ll be pairing black plates, gold flatware, buffalo check napkins, and greenery to create a similar look. By the way, my dining table and chairs are on major sale through November 25th, so make sure you grab them if you’re in the market for a new dining set! So many of my followers have purchased the table and everyone raves about the high quality for such a low price. It really is a good one!

Kitchen

This is our first Christmas in our new kitchen. I’m excited to get our floating shelves up and decorate them for the holidays. Adding simple items to the countertops like wood cutting boards, greenery, and fruit are a great way to create a festive feel in the kitchen that will be sure to inspire all your holiday baking.

Holiday Style

Sweaters and booties are my go-to outfit this time of year, but I wanted to purchase one holiday outfit for parties or other special occasions that might require something just a little extra. I thought pairing a plaid skirt and cozy sweater would be so cute, so I purchased this skirt that’s on sale and will be wearing it with this gray sweater! I also linked a few other things I’ve purchased and have been loving lately.

Hope this helps you in your quest to decorate for the holidays! There’s nothing quite like a cozy home at Christmas time. Enjoy every minute!
