Who we are

Halfway Wholeistic is a home, lifestyle, and fashion content brand created by Katie Staples. We share home decor, organization, and style ideas, and we link to products we love from retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and others.

Information we collect

Information you give us

Email sign-ups: your email address, name, and any preferences you choose when you subscribe.
Contact forms and emails: your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message.
Comments: the name, email, and website you enter, plus your comment.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our partners automatically collect certain information using cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring URL, pages you view, links you click, time spent on pages, and general location (city/region level) derived from your IP address.

Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, and Font Awesome, which load fonts and icons and receive your IP address when your browser requests them.
Wordfence security, which logs IP addresses and request data to protect the Site from attacks and spam.

Link-in-bio and outbound click tracking

Our link-in-bio page (halfwaywholeistic.com/links) records when you click a link to a retailer or storefront, including which retailer and which link you clicked. We send these click events to Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel so we can understand which links are useful and measure our advertising. We do not see what you buy.

Your cookie choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use private browsing, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. You can opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.

Affiliate links

Many links on the Site, in our emails, and on our social channels are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Retailers and affiliate networks, including Amazon, Walmart (through Impact), LTK (rewardStyle), and other brand programs, use cookies or similar technology to tell that the sale came from our link. We do not receive your name, payment information, or order details from these retailers. We only receive aggregated reports of clicks, orders, and commissions.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Email

If you subscribe to our emails, we will send you newsletters, product finds, and promotions. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

Pinterest integration

We use the Pinterest API through our own internal app to publish Pins of our content to the Halfway Wholeistic Pinterest account, read our own boards, and view analytics for our own account. The app does not access, collect, or store any other Pinterest user’s data, and it is not offered to the public. Pinterest access credentials for our account are stored securely and used only for these purposes. Your use of Pinterest is governed by Pinterest’s Privacy Policy.

Comments and media

When you leave a comment, we collect the information in the comment form along with your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly with your comment. If you choose, your name, email, and website can be saved in a cookie for one year so you don’t have to retype them.

If you upload images to the Site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS), since visitors can download and extract it.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on the Site may include embedded content such as videos, images, social posts, and shopping widgets. Embedded content behaves the same way as if you visited the other website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, add their own tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you are logged in to an account there.

We have “shared” identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners (such as Meta and Google) for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

To exercise any of these rights, including to opt out of sale or sharing, email katie@halfwaywholeistic.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will verify your request using information you have already given us, such as your email address. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.

Visitors from the UK and European Economic Area: We process your information based on your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies and marketing) and our legitimate interests in running and improving the Site. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Your information may be processed in the United States.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the Meta Pixel and Google’s advertising features on the Site let those companies collect information about your visit (such as your IP address, cookie IDs, and pages viewed) so we can show you ads on their platforms and measure those ads. Some state privacy laws, including California’s, treat this as “selling” or “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising.

We will not treat you differently for opting out.

How long we keep information

We keep subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. Analytics data is kept according to each provider’s retention settings. We keep other information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law.

Security

We use reasonable measures, including security software and access controls, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
