Three Tips For Styling Small Spaces + Our New Coffee Table!

Special thanks to The Home Depot for sponsoring this post

It’s officially that time of year when everyone is heading back to school! I remember when I went away to college I wanted to make sure my dorm room felt like home. Adding decorative accents and furniture pieces is one way to ensure your new home feels warm and inviting. Whether you’re decorating a dorm room or just a small space in your home, The Home Depot has everything you need to create a look you’ll love!

Here are a few ways you can make any small space both functional and beautiful:

1. Use Command Strips and Hooks

Did you know you can use Command Strips to hang just about anything on your walls without causing damage to the surface? This is important for temporary living quarters like a dorm or rental, but also great for homeowners who are hesitant to put holes in their freshly painted walls! Command Hooks allow you to hang art that will personalize your space without worrying about causing damage to your walls. Consider using these Command Hooks and strips to hang pictures, string lights, and even towels in the bathroom.

2. Maximize Outlet Usage With Power Strips and Surge Protectors

Dorm rooms and small spaces are often lacking when it comes to the number of outlets provided in a given space. Using power strips and surge protectors gives you the option to plug in additional items into one outlet, and also allows you to hide some of those unsightly cords. I always use Command Hooks to keep the cords organized on our nightstands! Power strips are great if you simply need additional plugs, but consider using a surge protector when plugging in electronics like computer and printers.

3. Find Furniture That Fits Your Space

For smaller spaces, I’d recommend furniture with rounded edges so they’re easier to navigate in tight quarters. I recently bought this coffee table from The Home Depot and it adds so much style without taking up too much space! The round, flat top could even double as a tabletop if your dorm room doesn’t have a dining area. I added height to the table by adding decorative items like a vase and fresh flowers! Filling your dorm or small space with a few accent pieces like this coffee table will make the room stand out among the rest. I really can’t say enough about this one. It’s truly the perfect size and color!

Hoping these tips are helpful! I’m going to link a few more small space essentials below, and don’t forget to head to The Home Depot to shop for all your back to campus essentials. They have everything you need to keep your small space organized, comfortable, and stylish!
