Our master bathroom is nearly finished! It’s been so fun to see it really come together over the past week. Since many of you have been following along on Instagram, I thought I’d give you an update on the progress! Here is the current update…

So far, just about everything is done! The shower is tiled, floor has been laid, and the vanity is installed. It’s really just the small details we still need to complete, like installing the towel pegs, styling some wall art and other accents, and organizing everything in the vanity! We also need to finalize shower door details, which will need to be custom made, so more on that later! We’re really looking forward to having a new bathroom to enjoy and our house back in order 🙂 I’ll be revealing the complete bathroom next week, but until then, here are some progress pictures and a few answers to some frequently asked questions!

Where are the wall sconces from?

I linked everything we used for the renovation below! Most of the items we used in this renovation are from build.com. They’re such an amazing resource for all things home design and renovation. Their product selection, online shopping interface, and fair prices make shopping a total breeze!

What floor and baseboards did you use?

Our flooring is COREtec waterproof luxury vinyl tile in the color Calypso Oak, so it can work anywhere in your house! We paired it with 5″ baseboards which are painted in the same color as the shiplap, Sherwin Williams Jogging path in a satin finish.

What type of wood did you use for the shiplap?

We used 5/8×6′ shiplap with a 3/16 gap.

Is the shiplap waterproof?

Our contractor used Flex Seal on the wood panels and baseboards by the shower to prevent water damage.

What paint colors did you use?

The walls and ceiling are Sherwin Williams Pure White in eggshell, and the wood panels and baseboards are Sherwin Williams Jogging Path in satin.

How will you keep the shower clean?

I did some research and read that if you use Dawn dish soap it keeps the marble clean and prevents it from getting discolored without causing damage to the tile!

What are the bathroom dimensions?

Our bathroom is about 8’x10′ and the shower is about 3’x3′ with 8′ ceilings.

How did you decide on a layout?

I kept the layout in the bathroom the same mostly for cost purposes! We pretty much gutted the entire bathroom, but I didn’t want to rearrange plumbing and all that. So I kept the layout and worked with what we had! The biggest adjustment we made was that we got rid of the window above the vanity since that would really impact the look and overall design of the bathroom. We installed a tubular skylight to let natural light in and allow for proper venting.

How do you mix metals in a bathroom?

When it comes to specific design elements like mixing metals, there’s not necessarily a right or wrong way to go about it! I didn’t want everything to be one metal, so I mixed brass and silver. I did silver plumbing (sink and shower faucets) and kept everything else brass! I think that’s an easy way to mix metals while keeping it looking cohesive.

Looking forward to revealing the rest of the renovation next week! 🙂
