5 Ways to Feel More at Home in Your Kitchen

Sometimes it feels like I spend the majority of my day in the kitchen. Do you ever feel that way? Between the food prep and cleanup multiple times a day, it’s definitely the most used space in our home!

I figure if I’m going to spend that much time in the kitchen then I want to at least enjoy my time 😉 Here are a few things you can do to make your kitchen a comfortable place to cook and gather!

Comfy Kitchen Tips:

1. Style a lamp on your countertop – I recently put this mini lamp in our kitchen and I LOVE having this ambient light to cook with. So calming!

2. Make stovetop potpourri or diffuse your favorite oil blend – I ALWAYS have some sort of seasonal scent going in the kitchen! I’ve included my Christmas stovetop potpourri recipe for you below. You can pin the recipe to Pinterest or save it to your phone/computer for later!

3. Get rid of things you don’t need and make sure everything has a place – Every few months I go through our home and get rid of things we don’t need or use. If you have large platters or an abnormally large collection of mugs, donate or give some away to help keep you kitchen clutter-free! An organized kitchen will keep you working efficiently, which will allow you to work stress-free and reduce your time spent cooking and cleaning.

4. Display fresh greenery or flowers – My go-to is fresh eucalyptus or olive stems. They brighten up the kitchen and make it feel fresh and clean! Cedar and pine are great for this time of year.

5. Start making updates to your kitchen – When Jordan and I first moved into our home over five years ago, there were a lot of updates that needed to be done! It can be overwhelming to think about renovating an outdated space in your home, but start making small changes that will have a big impact. Most recently, we recently installed our SMEG appliances and it’s been so nice to be able to cook with appliances that actually work! haha.
