Our 2021 Project List

I’ve made a project list for our home every year since we’ve moved in over five years ago. Let’s face it, updating and decorating a home takes a lot of time and money. Unless your budget allows for a complete renovation or new build, taking it one step at a time is the only way! Making a list of project goals has been such a helpful way for me to prioritize and budget for our home renovations.

I start by listing out the projects I want to complete. Then, I prioritize them based on need and want while also considering our finances and what the budget will allow. If your budget is on the larger side, you can consider adding full room renovations to your list. On the other hand, updating your home doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend a lot of money. Consider projects like painting a fireplace or bathroom vanity, updating lighting, and sourcing affordable furniture on Craigslist, garage sales , or Facebook marketplace.

I’ve always been the type of person that sets my mind to something and finds a way to make it happen. In our early ears of marriage, this meant taking on a second job as a tutor, buying and selling furniture on Craigslist, and having garage sales to save up for products and purchases that were on my wishlist. Where there’s a will there’s a way, right?! I’m so grateful for our home and how far it’s come. Each project we’ve completed over the past five years has allowed our house to feel more like home. It’s a place we enjoy spending our time and making memories together as a family. Looking forward to tackling more projects in 2021! Here’s a list of the projects we plan to complete this upcoming year and a few tips for making your own list!

5. Kitchen Updates

The Plan: Add a new light over the kitchen sink, floating wood shelves, and trim to the peninsula. Jordan and I have talked about a second mini kitchen renovation that would include removing the peninsula and adding an island, but not sure if we have enough room to pull it off! We’ll have to wait and see how this project ends up 🙂
