Shelf Styling Tips

1. Gather Decorative Items

Roundup your favorite decorative items and lay them out so you can see what you’re working with while you decorate!

2. Create a Base

Use your larger items like big bowls and vases to establish a foundation and create focal points on the shelves

3. Display Small Groupings

Group small items together to create styled sections that create visual interest throughout the overall space.

4. Mix & Match Your Favorite Tones and Textures

I love using various neutral tones, wood tones, ceramics, brass, and black to create contrast and dimension that’s also neutral and soothing. I always try and disperse the tones evenly throughout the shelf so that no one color stands out, but blends together. For example, if you have a black decorative item, make sure to incorporate black accents at least two other places on the shelf to keep it looking balanced.

5. Try, Try Again!

Style the shelves and then stand back to assess the overall look. If something looks off, keep moving things around until it feels just right!
