Whenever I’m designing a space in our home, I do so with a mindset of making timeless choices. Sure, spaces in our home will go out of style as time goes on, but the goal is to keep them looking up to date for as long as possible! One of the main ways I do this is by creating a neutral, classic base and adding accents that project the current trends.

Our kitchen is one example of this. I opted for white cabinets and a marble look quartz (Lincoln Quarts by Area Stone purchased from Modul Marble) with the hope that it would feel on trend for years to come! Now that warmer wood tones and putty paint colors have come into play, I’m switching up a few of our kitchen accents to reflect the feel of the current trends. This means that simply by adding new shelves and a light fixture, our kitchen will take on a whole new look!
Think of timeless design as making classic choices for the more expensive and permanent things in your home. Then, incorporate your favorite trends through more affordable means such as decor, textiles, paint, etc.!
Our new floating shelves are from Ultra Shelf and I can’t recommend them enough! I got the white oak shelves in the ‘nature’ stain. You’re able to customize the size to fit your space. Ours are 26″ wide x 12″ deep x 1.75″ thick. They come with a bracket and everything you need to hang them! The bracket has multiple holes, making it easy to hang them on the studs.
The pendant light is the 7″ brass-basic pendant light. You can hang it as a flush mount or pendant! And the pendant comes with all different sized rods so you can hang it as high or low as you want. I just used one of the rods (the smallest one) to get this look.
