A Road Map For Mixing Metals

Mixing metals can be tricky. I’ve touched on this topic before but wanted to share two fool-proof ways you can mix metals in your kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room!

Get the Look

Do you ever get inspiration overload? I know I do. I honestly love all the metal tones and can get a bit stuck when it comes to picking metals for a project. However, I’m definitely favoring brass and nickel right now!

Remember, there are no REAL rules when it comes to design. You can do whatever you want since it’s your house! But, here are two ways you can mix metals to ensure everything will flow perfectly in your space.

Option 1: One Metal

Keeping consistency throughout your project makes it simple and easy! One metal would ensure that everything works well together. The key is in breaking it up with decorative accents, furniture, shelving, and foliage.

Two Metals:

Opting for two metals is an easy way to incorporate your favorite tones into your design. To help you choose which metal goes where I’ve broken it down like this: Metal 1 is used for hardware and lighting. This would be all your pulls, knobs, and light fixtures. Metal 2 would be used for your plumbing, which includes faucets, showerheads, and bath handles. Tie it all together with your decorative accents, furniture, shelving, and foliage.

Hope that helps you in your quest to mix metals! As I said before, there are no hard and fast rules. But these are two easy ways to do it right and feel confident in your decision 🙂
