Our New COREtec Floor Reveal

So excited to show off our new COREtec floors with you today! To say they have completely transformed our home would be an understatement. I can’t even begin to describe what a difference they’ve made in the look and feel of our house! They brighten up every room and make every space feel super fresh and clean.

Last week we installed COREtec’s luxury plank vinyl tile in the color Calypso Oak. I searched high and low for the perfect flooring and finally landed on this product for multiple reasons. First, they’re waterproof and kid proof! Since we are entering the kiddo phase of life I wanted something that would be durable and easy to clean. Also, they have a cork underlayment which means there is little prep work that goes into installation. We actually just laid right over the top of our tile and brick! We did pull up the carpet in the bedrooms and laid it on the foundation there. Finally, I chose this product because there is absolutely no gluing involved in the installation process! Not only does this save time and money, but it means we aren’t ruining the flooring we’ve laid over and can also pull them up easily if styles change in the future.

To answer a few of your questions about installation here is a bit more information on that. Like I said, we laid over the tile and brick. You can feel the floor float just a bit since we didn’t put down an underlayment, but that doesn’t bother me one bit. It was a small compromise we decided to make since removing the old flooring wasn’t an option for us at this point. It was going to cost $10,000 to remove the brick alone! We also did not pull up the existing baseboards. We used COREtec’s matching quarter round pieces to connect the floor to the baseboards. You do not have to do this, but again, it was just another cost savings option for us. Finally, many of you have asked about uneven flooring. Since we did remove the carpet in the bedrooms, those rooms are a bit lower than the rest of the house. We simply used COREtec’s reducer pieces to match up the uneven floors. It’s a very easy solution!

As for the cost, you can check out COREtec’s products on their website and see all the different costs and flooring options! My biggest tip is to get multiple quotes for installation, or even save money by installing yourself! COREtec prides themselves on an easy DIY installation since it is just an interlocking system, no gluing and little prep work! We decided to have them installed because our baby is due any day and we needed to get it done fast. We had about 1,500 square feet to install, so I set out to get quotes. I scheduled back to back meetings with tons of companies and got as many quotes as I could! The quotes ranged from $5,000-$15,000. As you can see this is a HUGE difference which is why it’s so important to get lots of quotes. If you’re local to Orange County, CA I highly recommend going with OC Hardwood and Laminate. They provided the best cost and absolute best service. Not only were they the lowest bid, but they even trimmed down our doors and installed in just two days! This was way shorter than the five-day window many other companies gave me.

I honestly cannot say enough about COREtec’s luxury plank vinyl tile. I searched high and low for a solution that met our needs and this was the only option that even came close to working in our home! I’m so happy with how it turned out and hope you like them too!
