I function best in an organized environment. I’ve been this way for as long as I can remember! Since I was a little girl, I enjoyed organizing my personal space in a way that allowed it to present well and work properly. Whether it was my bedroom, dresser drawers, school desk, or dorm room, I was constantly working to keep things neat and tidy.

Now that I have my own home, keeping things organized has been taken to the next level. I must say, keeping an organized desk is much easier than managing an entire home 😉 Keeping a tidy home requires frequent upkeep, discipline, and intentionality. There are things I do on a routine basis to keep things tidy, so I thought I’d share my tips with you today!

10 Tidy Tips:
1. Invest in bins and baskets to manage and organize items
2. Strategically incorporate cabinets, storage benches, and built-ins into your home design
3. Keep what you use often in your home, organize the rest in a storage shed or garage
4. Take time to make sure everything has a space. This makes cleaning up quick, easy, and attainable
5. Be intentional about purchases to reduce unnecessary clutter. Invest in fewer things you LOVE as opposed to buying more items on a whim that will have a short shelf life
6. Purge your home seasonally. Spring cleaning isn’t just for spring! Go through each room in your home at the beginning of each season to donate, sell, give/throw away things you no longer need
7. ‘Maintenance clean’ daily by wiping down counters and running the vacuum. These simple chores will get you a long way in feeling like your home is clean! If budget allows, invest in a professional deep clean for your home monthly or seasonally
8. Have less! The less you have the easier it is to stay organized. For example, I just have one cup and plate for weston. We also just have one throw blanket per person in our household. This makes cleaning up and storing things easy!
9. Ask for help! Jordan and I work as a team to keep our home clean. He respects the facts that it’s important to me and is always willing to help clean or tidy around the house
10. Find a balance that works for you. Since having Weston our home doesn’t stay AS tidy all the time as it did before. Over the past year, I’ve been intentional about finding what works for me. As of right now, I tidy throughout the day and when he goes to bed at night. This little extra effort goes a long way in allowing me to enjoy our home and have a clear mind to accomplish daily tasks and get my work done. Work with your family to establish a set of expectations for your household cleanliness and create a plan to make it happen each day
