Elmwood Lake House: Renovation update, Exterior Rendering, and Kitchen Design!

The Elmwood Lake House renovation is coming along! We purchased this home back in August, started the renovation in September, and we’re just about to wrap things up. Can’t believe it’s almost done! We’re cutting it pretty close but looks like we should be able to move furniture in by Christmas if all goes to plan.

In case you missed it, you can click here to see the original post with the listing photos. The before photos of the cabin look quite different. So crazy! And without further ado, here are a few renovation updates for you.

What’s Been Done:

So far we demoed the entire cabin, removed two walls, updated plumbing and electrical, added new flooring, and installed two new showers.

We chose Cali Floors Luxury Vinyl Flooring in Natural Elm. It is STUNNING! I’m so happy with how it turned out. Install is quick and easy, and the floor is waterproof and durable which will be great for the cabin.

The tile is the 2×6″ Zellige natural white tile from Riad Tile. Can’t get over how stunning this product is. A timeless look that’s very on-trend right now.

What’s Left To Do:

The painters are currently working on the interior right now and will be doing so for the next two weeks. After that, they’ll move on to the exterior! Hopefully, the winter weather can hold off just long enough for us to finish up the project. I’m already dreaming of how pretty the black cabin will look in the snow.

Exterior Rendering:

I partnered with Yardzen to create this rendering of our exterior. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! Yardzen is an online design service that helps you create your dream yard. All you have to do is select a package, complete your design quiz, and submit photos of your project. Then, Yardzen’s design team works to create the yard of your dreams. Their renderings are unbelievably realistic which is so helpful when trying to make final decisions on the design. Can’t wait to see this design come to life!

Kitchen Install:

We had custom cabinets made for the kitchen and they were installed yesterday. Eee!! I think they turned out so good. Hard to believe this is the same space as the original listing image, right? The countertop fabricator is heading up on Sunday and should install the countertops within the next two weeks. So the whole kitchen should be finished by Christmas!

Paint Selection:

Ahh paint colors. Always a hot topic. I’ve worked with enough paint colors to know which ones are safe bets, so that’s what I went with for the cabin. I didn’t want to take too big of a risk with the paint, so I went with some tried and true colors! I also opted for eggshell on everything except the ceilings which are flat. Flat is the finish of choice by designers right now, but I wanted something a little more durable so I went with eggshell.

Walls and Window Trim: Benjamin Moore White Dove (Eggshell)

Cabinets, Baseboards, and Doors: Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter (Eggshell)

Exterior: Benjamin Moore Blacktop with Onyx fascia and trim

Stay tuned for more updates coming very soon!
