Decorating the kids’ rooms for Christmas is one of my favorite parts of the season! 🎄🤍
I like to keep their spaces cozy and timeless: soft neutrals, plaid, warm lights and a few sweet Christmas details. Come take a peek at Weston’s room, the nursery and our playroom all decked out for the holidays. Everything is linked below each photo, so just swipe through to shop!
Weston’s Christmas Bedroom

Weston’s room is all decked out for Christmas with plaid flannel bedding, a little tree in the corner and a big wreath over the bed. So much of this room is from Amazon, including the black metal bed and the flannel sheets!
Get the look:
- Start with the bedding. Flannel or plaid sheets, a linen quilt and a chunky throw make the bed feel like Christmas without adding clutter.
- Pick one big statement piece. One large wreath over the bed (hung on a canvas flag or banner) does more than lots of little decor.
- Layer pillows in a few tones. Mix a check, a solid olive green and a plaid, and add a sweet stuffed animal.
- Add a small lit tree. A tree in the corner gives the whole room a soft glow in the evening.

A Cozy Corner with Christmas Wall Decor

On the other side of Weston’s room, a comfy chair, a floor lamp and two little wall shelves make a cozy corner. A vintage Christmas tree print, mini trees and a neutral pennant garland bring in the holiday feel, and they can easily stay up through winter.
Small wall shelves are one of my favorite tricks for kids’ rooms. They hold art and seasonal decor up off the floor and dressers, and you can change them out in minutes.

A Christmas Book Nook

This scalloped bookcase from Amazon is the sweetest way to display the kids’ Christmas books and add a touch of holiday magic. Right next to it, a Christmas tree in a basket: an easy holiday idea for kids’ spaces that is timeless, simple and so sweet. A string of rustic bells on the door handle finishes it off.
Front-facing shelves let little ones see the covers and pick a book on their own, so a book nook like this is perfect for Christmas Eve stories. The Christmas books on the shelf are linked here too!

Christmas in the Nursery

Christmas in the nursery is all about soft plaid walls, a little wreath and the sweetest mini tree. I kept it neutral with warm lights and a few sweet Christmas details, so the room still feels calm and restful for naps and bedtime.
Nursery tip: keep holiday decor, cords and anything breakable well away from the crib. Put the tree and garland where little hands can’t reach, and let the textiles (a plaid blanket, a soft knit animal) do the decorating near the crib.

A Holiday Nursery Dresser

The dresser is one of my favorite spots to decorate for the holidays, featuring one of my very favorite wreaths! It hangs over a canvas world map with a vase of berry stems, framed art and woven baskets to keep everything tidy.
A dresser vignette is an easy way to decorate a nursery: one wreath, one vase with a few stems and one piece of art. Tie the wreath on with a velvet ribbon for an extra cozy touch.

Our Holiday Playroom

Our holiday playroom has a canvas playhouse with a little Merry Christmas banner, cozy pillows and easy storage for all the toys. Cube shelves with baskets keep everything organized, and a little table is perfect for holiday crafts.
In a playroom, I like decor that the kids can actually play around: a banner on the playhouse, a couple of plaid pillows and fairy lights that run on batteries, so there are no cords to trip over.

Tips for Decorating Kids’ Rooms for Christmas
- Keep the base neutral. Bring in Christmas with textiles you can swap back in January: sheets, pillow covers and a throw.
- Choose one focal point per room. A big wreath, a small lit tree or a garland is plenty in a kid’s space.
- Put the magic at their height. Christmas books, a little tree in a basket and a playhouse banner are all things kids can enjoy up close.
- Make it kid-safe. Use battery-operated or timer lights, skip glass ornaments and keep cords tucked away.
- Plan for winter. Greenery, plaid, bells and tree art can stay up long after Christmas is over.
